Yet another week has passed and it's time for another weekly. Here’s everything that happened at YoungInnovations this week.

YI Hackathon Winner Announced

This week on Young Innovations the winner of Hack Day 2021 was announced. The panel of judges had a rather hard time settling on one winner from all the participating teams. A hearty congratulations to Hack Day 2021 winners Team2-Sombot and Team4-Analyzer 1.0.

Here are a few words shared by the winning team members.

“It was tough to decide on what feature should we add to Sombar, which will make it more productive and more engaging to the users. Raj our main man came up with the idea on how we can use gitlab/github users’s data and bring more analytics on user and projects. Then the team (Analyzer 1.0) began brain storming on this and brought out what kind on analytics we can bring out from these data. So, a simple prototype was created during the weekend and was presented to the judges. Raj explained few of the features during the seesion but due to time strain we coudn’t present all the ideas that we had during our brain storming. The fingers were crossed during the winner announcement. All other teams had great ideas and presented well. Our presentation wasn’t as we expected so we weren’t sure about the results. But finally when the winner was announced we were both shocked and reliefed that we were the co winner with the Sombot team. Thank you for the organising team for preparing such a wonderful event. Hope another hackathon is round the corner. :)” — Biju Nakarmi

“I had participated in hackathons multiple times but only as a mentor, this was the first hackathon where I was one of the participant. Me along with our amazing and talented team members Bibha, Rubina, Saugat and Sonika made a slack bot called Sombot which would communicate with Sombar and the user could add/update tasks from slack itself. Being one of the winning team was amazing in itself, but the amount of fun and excitement we had during the hackathon was something special for all of us.” — Bibek Mani Acharya

Kudos to all the teams for showcasing exemplary team works and the ability to solve problems in such a short time. All the ideas and works that the teams came up with were extraordinary and impressive.

AidStream Training

AidStream is a tool built by YoungInnovations that makes publishing aid data by International Aid Transparency Initiation (IATI) standards simple and convenient. On Tuesday (April 27, 2021) team AidStream (Anjesh Tuladhar, Mani Bibek Acharya, Bibhs, and bikalpa Thapa) conducted a training session for one of the users.

The trainees were from a local NGO in Jordan called Partners for Good. The three and half hours long training was conducted virtually on Google Meet. The objective of the training was to acquaint the trainees with the basics of AidStream, IATI standard, and AidStream Pro. (AidStream Pro is a paid version of AidStream which offers interesting features to the Pro users.)
